Luckily nails don’t have to be so long and sculptured as they used to be in the past. In fact to leave the length just a little over the tip of the finger is just fine now and also avoids you breaking your nails so often as happens when they are left too long.

The fashion is to have them filed straight across so no longer do you have to try and file and curve them into a true oval which was often quite difficult to do.
It has to be said that the French manicure has and always will be a neutral and popular choice for any woman of any age. You don’t have to worry about the colour of your nail polish clashing with the colour of the outfit that you are wearing and chips that occur don’t show up as much because there is nothing worse than to see a pair of hands with most of the nail varnish chipped away and the darker the colour the more it shows up.
So having established that the French manicure is the simplest form of painting your nails we now go onto colour. And this year the colours are dark and striking with examples such as dark burgundy, black, navy blue and purple.
If you decide to opt for one of these dark colours you can also liven your nails up by placing on one or two or all of them, it’s up to you, those self adhesive stickers for nails which can be a small silver star, a little diamond, a silver half moon or a crystal. They are just applied to the tip of the nail and it just adds a little bit more interest to your nails.
In summer it looks good if you apply the same colours that you use for your hand nails to the nails of your feet as well. It just completes the whole manicured picture.
